South of Hannerup Forest lies the beautiful natural area of Erritsø Marsh, where you can get close to nature and experience the lush wetlands and meadows.
Walk through Erritsø Marsh on the Nature Trail
A nature trail runs through Erritsø Marsh, following the Erritsø Stream and leading you through a varied landscape of wetlands and meadows.
You’ll walk along small wooden bridges winding through the damp terrain – and along the way, you can take a break on one of the cozy benches and enjoy the gentle sound of the flowing stream.
The nature trail is part of the 3 km route through Erritsø Marsh, and parking is available at Hannerup Engvej 1–3.
Boardwalk through the Alder Forest
Erritsø Marsh also features its very own boardwalk – a winding wooden pathway built on stilts, allowing you to explore the wetland terrain.
The boardwalk takes you through the area’s enchanting alder forest and across Erritsø Stream, which meanders gracefully through the landscape.
Along the way, you’ll also pass one of Fredericia’s beautiful wooden sculptures.
Discover Local Wildlife and Plant Life
On your walk through Erritsø Marsh, you may encounter grazing cattle or catch a glimpse of deer in the open fields.
The area is rich in wildlife and plants – look out for wild orchids in the meadows, or try to spot an otter by the stream, especially early in the morning or late in the evening.
You might also see a marsh harrier gliding majestically over the wetlands, or even be lucky enough to spot the rare kingfisher that inhabits the area.
