Go on a Wooden Wildlife Hunt with the New ART Audio Guide
ART is the name of a series of wooden animal sculptures that can be found throughout the natural areas of Fredericia Municipality.
So far, the series includes five animals: the black woodpecker, the tawny owl, the white-tailed eagle, the starling with its chick, and the harbour porpoise. Each animal has been given its own voice through an audio guide where you can hear the animals tell a little bit about themselves. The guide includes a version for children, one for adults, and an option to simply listen to the animal’s natural sound.
Free Audio Guide for Both Children and Adults
The audio guide is free and available in both Danish and English in the Useeum app. All you need to do is head out into nature, find the sculptures, and scan the QR code to start listening.

About ART – the Wooden Animals of Fredericia
The animals are crafted from recycled wood by local artist Mariane Ladegaard Jensen and placed in nature areas around Fredericia.
Each sculpture is located in a place where that specific animal actually lives. Some of the sculptures also have multiple functions – besides being beautiful works of art, several also serve as homes for the animals they represent. For example, the starling and chick in Madsbyparken is built as a series of small nesting boxes.
The purpose of the sculptures is to raise awareness and draw attention to animals we often overlook – either because they’re small or rarely seen.
ART – where wildlife meets art
The new audio guide plays on the double meaning of the word “art”. The sculptures are both animal species and artworks. With ART, nature and creativity blend together – to the benefit of both animals and people.
