Hike Through Varied Terrain
The route through Erritsø Marsh takes you across meadows with grazing cattle, forest areas teeming with wildlife, and wetland sections where you can spot frogs, fish, and birds. Along the way, you’ll also cross the Erritsø Stream.
Route Information and Boardwalk
The route through Erritsø Marsh is 3 km long and takes about 30 minutes to walk. Parts of the trail follow a brand-new 1.4 km wooden boardwalk that lets you explore the wetland areas without getting your feet wet.
The winding boardwalk, built on stilts, leads you through the unique alder forest and across Erritsø Stream, offering a close-up view of the area’s fascinating flora and fauna.
The trail is connected to the paths in Hannerup Forest and Fuglsang Forest.
Experience the Rare Kingfisher in Erritsø Marsh near Fredericia
Erritsø Marsh is also home to the rare kingfisher, which you may be lucky enough to spot up close. You can recognize it by its vivid blue plumage. You might also encounter herons and nightingales, which inhabit the area as well.
During your walk on the boardwalk, you’ll pass one of Fredericia’s special wooden sculptures — shaped like a kingfisher.
Parking
It is possible to park at Fuglsang Wild Life Park or along the road Mølleskovvej.
Parking at Fuglsang Wild Life Park: Park at Fuglsang Wild Life Park and follow the path down towards the railway. Cross the railway and then keep to the right. Follow the trails, and you will reach the new boardwalk.
The walk from the parking area to the boardwalk is about 1 km.
Parking at Mølleskovvej:
Park along the roadside on Mølleskovvej and follow the path and signs to the Kingfisher, which is located on the boardwalk.
